It’s the time when he resigned his candidacy and hurried back to India after hearing the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Netaji joined the noncooperation movement started by Mohandas K. Gandhi in order to contribute in the revolution of freedom. Gandhi Ji have a great connection with Netaji and he told him to work under Chitta Ranjan Das, a politician in Bengal. There he became a youth educator, journalist, and commandant of the Bengal Congress volunteers. While over one side Netaji on the basis of his leadership spirit is gaining his way up in the Congress hierarchy as well as the trust and support of the people. It was the year 1928 when Motilal Nehru Committee was appointed by the congress declared in favour of domination status, he with Jawaharlal Nehru opposed it and declared that they would be only satisfied with nothing short of complete independence for India and he also announced the formation of the Independence league.

He was released in 1931 after Gandhi Irwin pact and opposed the suspension of Civil Disobedience movement specially when Bhagat Singh and his associates were hanged. He was soon arrested again under the infamous Bengal Regulation and got released after an year then he took a major step towards promoting poilitico-cultural contacts between India and Europe for which he was banned for entering the boundaries of India and when he returned back got arrested again and pushed into jail for another year. After the general election of 1937 , congress came to power in seven states and he was released.
He was re-elected as the president of the Indian National Congress after defeating Dr. Pattabhi Sitaramayya who had been backed by Mahatma Gandhi and Congress working committee. It was the time when World War 2nd was almost at the horizon and when he brought a resolution to give the British 6 months to leave India. There was much opposition against him and he resigned from the post of president and formed a progressive group known as the forward block.
Against all the odds he led the formation of Indian National Army(Azad Hind Fauj) and started mass movement by utilising Indian resources and men and inviting everyone to join in the great war for freedom.
Working on the very popular phrase “an enemy’s enemy is a friend,” he sought cooperation against British empire. In Jan 1942, he began his regular broadcasts from Radio Berlin, and in July 1943 , he arrived in Singapore from Germany. He was hailed as Netaji by the Army as well as by the Indian Civilian population in East Asia. Indian National Army proceeded towards India to liberate it from British Rule. The INA head quarters was shifted to Rangoon in January 1944. They crossed the Burma Border and stood on Indian soil on March 18,1944.

After Japan’s announced surrender in August 1945 the fortune of Netaji ended, While fleeing Southeast Asia the Indian nationalist leader Subhas Chandra Bose reportedly died in a Japanese hospital in Taiwan as a result of third degree burns on 18 August 1945 after the loaded bomber in which he was being transported by Japanese crashed. Many among his supporters, especially in Bengal, refused to believe his death. Since then a number of conspiracy theories appeared about his death, keeping alive various martial myths about Netaji.
